Whether you're trying to drum up business for your new start-up, or spread awareness for a missing cat, good, old-fashioned leaflets can be a great way to get your message out to your local community.
And the good news is, in today's enterprising business world, you don't need to break the bank to do it. Here's everything you need to know about leaflet printing.
First, remember: there are no do-overs
Every independent business owner thinks they are a dab hand at designing their own marketing material - and some of them may be - but the reality is most probably need to enlist the help of a professional.
There are a few leaflet printing companies which offer this service in-house, but don't settle for anything less than the very best quality. If you can afford it, seek the services of someone who really knows what they are doing.
Once you have, sit on the design for a little while and make sure it really conveys all the information it needs to. Get a second and third opinion before you're ready to take it to print.
How can I save money?
Prices vary depending on the company you opt for, as well as - obviously - the size of your print and the type of paper you need (many companies, for example, either exclusively or in supplement, use recycled paper - which can really help customers save a few extra pennies).
You can also cut costs if you shop with a printing company that is local to to you, as you may be able to pick your finished product up in person - thereby saving on delivery charges - or even fall directly within their catchment area and qualify, therefore, for a completely no-strings free delivery.
Don't be afraid to shop around first, and of course, make sure that you are fully happy with the finished product before you let the company completely off the hook (trust us: horror stories aren't unusual in this line of business).
Which companies are reputable?
Below are brief summaries of the leading printing companies, with prices and offers based on information taken from their websites at the time of writing.

They also offer free delivery if your order exceeds £75 (for everyone else, it's only £4.99). 100 sheets in A7 will set you back you £12, with the same amount in A3 - their largest size - costing £21.
The team at Vista Print offer a more comprehensive range of leaflets, printing in glossy, matte and recycled, and four different weight types - budget, standard, premium and "premium plus", which are all available with two-side printing. 100 A7 sheets costs a similar amount, around £12, with the thicker paper generally costing about £3 extra.
Banana Print also promises 24 hour dispatch on its prints, although the delivery charge is standard at £4.95 per order. The downside, however, is that they only prtint in sizes A4, A5 and A6, with the latter available at around £10 for 100 sheets (£15 if you require double-sided printing).
